SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals squared off with Arkansas Thursday night in game two of their Texas League North Division Championship Series.
Springfield took game one in Little Rock and were looking for the sweep.
After a record setting regular season, it's only appropriate the Springfield Cardinals attempted to stitch another layer into their historic tapestry, by making the Texas League Championship Series for the third time in franchise history.
And right handed hurler Max Rajcic was the man charged was shutting down the Arkansas Travelers.
A team he faced three times in the regular season, but was just one and two against them.
Rajcic used his off speed magic to strike out four Travs in 4 and 1/3rd innings.
Springfield scored two in the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead.
But Arkansas had a monster fifth inning, scoring eight runs and taking a 9-2 lead.
Springfield tried to rally, scoring four runs in the final innings but could not catch Arkansas.
The Travs win 9-6 and tie up the best of three at one win apiece.
The decisive game three is Friday night here at Hammons Field at 6:35 p.m.
