SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Springfield Police Department (SPD) is warning the public about a person calling people claiming to be an SPD officer and demanding money.

According to a Facebook post from SPD, the person is using the name of an actual SPD officer and has called people as far away as Texas.

"Please be aware of this scam and DON’T FALL FOR IT," said the Facebook post.
