Description
Hurricane Francine is expected to track north, cutting a path through Missouri. This will be the second time in the 2024 Hurricane Season that a tropical storm has been a weather-maker for the Ozarks.
Francine's track will follow the Mississippi River closely. Going north through Louisiana, Arkansas and into Missouri, before turning to the east.
In early July, Beryl hit Texas and moved northeast through Arkansas and into eastern Missouri. Beryl and Francine's tracks will intersect near the Bootheel of Missouri.
Over July 8 and 9, 2024, Beryl brought heavy rain to parts of the Ozarks, the heaviest falling in our eastern counties. In eastern Texas county, 6.6" fell.
While we won't be seeing the heavy rain like we did in July, there will once again be a distinct cut-off in haves and have-nots.
Dry air west of Francine will lead to a sharp cutoff in rainfall with little to no rain west of Hwy. 65. Meanwhile areas to the east could pick up over an inch.
The good news is that flash flooding and severe weather are not expected.
