NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. — A Joplin woman is dead after a single-car crash on I-44 overnight.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's crash report, the crash happened at around 3 a.m. on Sept. 10, near mile marker 6.2 in Joplin.
Jessica C. Chapman, 22, was eastbound on I-44 when her car went off the right side of the road, hitting a guardrail and overturning.
MSHP says Chapman died at the scene.
This is MSHP Troop D's 73rd fatality for 2024.
