‘I’m the devil and I need to kill you’ – Brentwood man faces charges after attacking neighbor

CLAYTON, Mo. – A Brentwood man faced a judge Tuesday morning after he attacked a woman living in his apartment complex.

The attack occurred around 9 a.m. Monday at The Villas in the 1800 block of South Brentwood Boulevard, according to a probable cause statement from the Brentwood Police Department.

When officers arrived, the victim told them she had woken up to find suspect Evan Levy (age not provided) in her bed, pressing a dual pronged carving fork against her neck.

Levy told the victim, “I’m the devil and I need to kill you,” and claimed voices in his head had directed him to do so, police said.

After his arrest, Levy asked officers, “Is she dead yet?” When told the victim had survived, he allegedly replied, “I didn’t do a good job,” police said.

Officers also discovered two additional knives at the side of the victim’s bed, which Levy allegedly brought into the room.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Levy with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. He remains held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
