Philadelphia police reported that a woman discharged a firearm, killing a man who unlawfully entered her apartment on Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to a call at approximately 5 a.m. for a gunshot incident at the residence located on the 4600 block of Castor Avenue.
Upon arrival, police and emergency medical personnel discovered a 29‑year‑old male with a gunshot wound to the head; he was pronounced dead at 5:30 a.m.
Authorities indicated that the woman, also in her twenties, shot the intruder after he forced entry through the building’s rear.
She informed investigators that she recognized the individual, although the nature of their acquaintance remains unclear.
The woman is cooperating fully with law enforcement.
