Two Pedestrians Struck Early Sunday, One Airlifter To Trauma Center

A pedestrian crash early Sunday morning in Dewey Beach left one person airlifted, according to initial reports.

The incident happened just before 2:00 a.m. near Coastal Highway and New Orleans Street. Emergency crews responded after receiving reports that a vehicle had struck two pedestrians, with one person found lying in the roadway.

Authorities said a 23-year-old woman suffered head injuries and Delaware State Police Aviation transported her to Christiana Emergency Room for further treatment. Officials also took a male patient with a leg injury to Beebe Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Crews shut down the roadway for more than two hours while they worked the scene and completed cleanup efforts.
