Man Charged with Murder After Deadly Bus Stop Shooting Near Delmar Loop

A 23-year-old man is facing multiple charges following a fatal shooting at a bus stop near the MetroLink Delmar Loop station in St. Louis.

Authorities have charged Dewayne Hurn with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and property damage in connection with the incident.

According to police, the shooting occurred around 3 p.m. Thursday outside a bus stop on Des Peres Avenue. Investigators say Hurn walked past 24-year-old Lamar Jackson before turning back and opening fire while the victim was walking away.

Gunfire from the incident also struck a MetroLink bus nearby, though no passengers were injured.

Officials reported that Hurn left behind a cellphone at the scene, which helped detectives identify and locate him later that day. An eyewitness also reportedly confirmed his identity during a photo lineup.

Hurn is currently being held without bond at the St. Louis City Justice Center. A court date has not yet been announced as the investigation continues.
