A deadly crash on Interstate 70 in St. Charles County, Missouri, caused major traffic disruptions Saturday morning, leaving one person dead and shutting down westbound lanes for several hours.
Crash Details and Emergency Response
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle collision occurred around 7:30 a.m. on westbound I-70, just before Route A. Emergency crews quickly arrived at the scene to assist those involved.
One of the drivers suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Authorities later confirmed that the driver succumbed to those injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Traffic Shutdown and Diversions
Following the crash, all westbound lanes of I-70 were temporarily closed as investigators and emergency responders worked at the scene. Traffic was rerouted at Lake St. Louis Boulevard, causing delays for morning commuters.
Officials confirmed that the highway was fully reopened around 10:30 a.m., restoring normal traffic flow.
