A 33-year-old San Diego man died this month following a climbing accident in Big Bear, according to family and friends.
Andy Ferrarone had been on life support for a week before he died July 15, organizers of an online fundraiser said.
Ferrarone’s wife, Nina, is eight weeks pregnant and now faces the prospect of raising their child alone, according to those close to the family.
Friends have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover Ferrarone’s medical bills, rent and upcoming baby expenses.
The circumstances of the climbing accident have not been publicly released. Further details were not immediately available Monday.
