Authorities in Arkansas have arrested a former police officer following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving a minor.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, investigators requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division on Sunday to examine the case involving Benjamin Drake Slagley, 31, of Swifton.
Slagley was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Cross County Detention Center. He faces charges including second-degree sexual assault, residential burglary, and furnishing or selling alcohol to a minor.
Officials also noted that Slagley had previously been arrested on October 13, 2025, on an arson charge following an investigation into a fire at his home in Swifton. That case was also handled by the Arkansas State Police’s Criminal Investigation Division after he reported the fire himself.
Following that earlier incident, Slagley resigned from his position with the Swifton Police Department.
The investigation into the latest case remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details.
