Missouri deer collision on U.S. 40 east of Rocheport kills Glasgow man

A Glasgow man, 40, died Thursday on U.S. 40 near Rocheport after a deer struck by another vehicle was propelled through his Jeep’s windshield. No other injuries reported.

A 40-year-old man from Glasgow lost his life Thursday evening following a collision on U.S. 40, located east of Rocheport, as confirmed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The incident took place at 5:47 p.m. at the intersection of Rocheport Gravel Road and North Shady Hills Lane.

According to the patrol’s official crash report, a 75-year-old man from Clark was operating a Chevrolet Equinox in an eastbound direction when his vehicle struck a deer, propelling the animal into the westbound lane of traffic.

The deer was then forced through the windshield of an oncoming Jeep, directly striking the Glasgow man inside the vehicle.

The Jeep subsequently veered off the roadway and collided with several trees, while the Chevrolet came to a stop on the right shoulder. No additional injuries were recorded in the report.

Sgt. Kyle Green, a spokesperson for the patrol’s Troop F, confirmed to KOMU 8 during initial coverage that this fatal crash was one of two separate incidents reported in the area that same Thursday evening.

U.S. 40 was temporarily closed for approximately one hour before being reopened to traffic.

Authorities notified the Glasgow man’s next of kin. His passing has been recorded as Troop F’s 56th traffic fatality of 2026.
