Arrest Made in New Haven Shooting Case
A 16-year-old suspect is facing multiple charges following a double shooting that left two men injured earlier this year in New Haven.
According to the New Haven Police Department, the incident took place in the early hours of February 15.
What Happened
Officers responded around 1 a.m. to reports of a disturbance in the area of James Street, near Mill Street and Chapel Street.
When police arrived, they found a large crowd dispersing. A witness informed officers that a fight had broken out nearby, which escalated into gunfire.
Two 20-year-old men from the city were struck during the incident. Both victims were taken to medical facilities by private vehicles and were later reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.
Suspect Identified and Arrested
Investigators identified a juvenile suspect in March and later developed probable cause to make an arrest.
The 16-year-old was taken into custody and charged with:
- Two counts of first-degree assault
- Unlawful discharge of a firearm
- First-degree reckless endangerment

Officials report that six out of seven non-fatal shootings in 2026 have resulted in arrests, reflecting an 86% clearance rate.
