Several Connecticut Parks Closed Due to Storm Damage or Full Parking Lots

Four state parks closed Sunday due to storm damage, and a fifth closed because its parking lot filled up, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said.

DEEP announced in posts on X that storm damage forced the closures of Sunrise State Park in East Haddam, Squantz Pond State Park in New Fairfield, Burr Pond State Park in Torrington and Sessions Woods Wildlife Management Area in Burlington.

DEEP also closed Millers Pond State Park in Haddam after its parking lot reached capacity Sunday afternoon.

The storm swept through the state Saturday night, causing widespread power outages and downing trees that blocked some roadways. Officials hadn’t confirmed possible beach closures as of Sunday.
