Randall Cobb to represent Kentucky in 2026 SEC Football Legends class

The Southeastern Conference announced Thursday that former University of Kentucky standout Randall Cobb will represent the Wildcats in the 2026 SEC Football Legends class.

As one of the most dynamic and versatile players in UK history, Cobb will take center stage during the SEC Football Weekend of Champions on Dec. 4-5, 2026, in Atlanta.

Hailing from Alcoa, Tennessee, Cobb starred for Kentucky from 2008 to 2010, guiding the program to the Liberty Bowl, Music City Bowl, and Compass Bowl. Along the way, he earned first-team All-America honors as a junior alongside back-to-back first-team All-SEC selections during his sophomore and junior campaigns.

In 2010, Cobb broke the SEC single-season record by racking up 2,396 all-purpose yards and capped off his collegiate career with a school-record 37 touchdowns. He first turned heads in 2008 to secure SEC All-Freshman Team honors after delivering 11 touchdowns, scoring seven on the ground, two through the air, and throwing for two more.

Cobb did it all for the Wildcats, regularly lining up at wide receiver and quarterback while handling punt returns, kickoff returns, and holding duties on field goals. His do-it-all playstyle made him a 2010 finalist for the Paul Hornung Award, given to college football’s most versatile player. Per the SEC, he stood alone across the entire Football Bowl Subdivision that year as the only athlete to finish first or second on his team in rushing, passing, and receiving yards.

After his stellar junior campaign, Cobb declared for the 2011 NFL Draft, where the Green Bay Packers selected him. He went on to enjoy an impressive 13-year professional run with the Packers, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, and New York Jets, totaling more than 7,600 receiving yards and 54 touchdowns. He enjoyed his finest professional season in 2014, earning a Pro Bowl nod after racking up 1,287 receiving yards.

Cobb previously entered the University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017, the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2022, and the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame in 2025.

The star-studded 2026 SEC Football Legends class also features former Alabama head coach Nick Saban, former Georgia head coach Mark Richt, former LSU defensive back Patrick Peterson, former Texas running back Ricky Williams, and former Oklahoma running back Billy Sims.

The conference will celebrate the class on Dec. 4 at the SEC Legends Celebration inside Atlanta’s College Football Hall of Fame, followed by an on-field recognition prior to the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 5 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
