SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A 72-year-old Republic man accused of putting a gun to the throat of a supermarket employee was sentenced to 180 days in jail and assigned to two years of supervised probation on Oct. 30.

Larry Gene Gay was arrested in April 2023 at a Springfield grocery store after being told he could not pack his own steaks in the meat department, according to a probable cause statement.
