For a period of three weeks, motorists will be unable to access Airport Road to or from westbound U.S. 54 near Jefferson City, as several ramps are scheduled to close.
The ramp connecting Callaway County Route W , commonly referred to as Airport Road and Cedar City Drive , to westbound U.S. 54 is scheduled to close on Monday. This closure is part of an ongoing highway expansion project in north Jefferson City. Notably, the ramp from westbound U.S. 54 to Airport Road has already been closed to traffic.
Throughout the duration of these closures, drivers seeking access to westbound U.S. 54 will be redirected to travel eastbound on U.S. 54 to the U.S. 63 interchange before proceeding to their intended direction.
According to an official news release issued by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), the ramp closure is required to allow construction crews to complete paving work for the newly added lane leading onto the bridge spanning the Missouri River.
Upon the completion of this work, full access to the interchange will be reinstated. Additionally, the new loop ramp connecting to westbound U.S. 54 will be opened to the public, along with a dedicated lane for southbound U.S. 63 traffic onto the Missouri River bridge.
