A man convicted on a careless discharge of a firearm charge in the death of a 20-year-old woman in Sumpter Township has been sentenced to probation.
The shooting occurred on March 18 at a home on Edgewood Drive. Officers found the woman lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest. She died at the scene.
Jordan Dejuan Winn was taken into custody and charged with careless discharge of a firearm causing injury or death. He pleaded guilty to the charge on May 8.
Police believe Winn and the victim knew each other.
On June 5, a judge sentenced Winn to two years’ probation and 40 hours of community service. He was also ordered to pay more than $15,000 to the victim’s family.
