Jet Ski Rider Dies After Accident on Connecticut River in Chester

A person died Friday afternoon after being thrown from a jet ski on the Connecticut River in Chester, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).

Around 2 p.m., Connecticut Environmental Conservation Police responded to a reported jet ski crash north of Selden Neck State Park, DEEP said.

Witnesses told officers the rider struck a wake and was ejected from the personal watercraft.

An EnCon boat recovered the victim and transported the person to Middlesex Hospital with serious injuries. The victim died a short time later.

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.

The incident remains under investigation, and no additional details have been released.
