The family of a 14-year-old girl whose remains were found inside a car has released an emotional statement after Houston-area singer D4vd was charged with murder.
Family Demands Justice for Teen Victim
Relatives of Celeste Rivas Hernandez expressed gratitude to investigators while calling for justice.
“Celeste was a beautiful, strong girl who loved to sing and dance… We miss her deeply. All we want is justice for Celeste,” the family said in a statement.
They also thanked the Los Angeles Police Department and prosecutors for their efforts in advancing the case.
Grisly Discovery in Vehicle Trunk
Authorities said the teen’s remains were discovered in September 2025 inside a Tesla registered to David Burke at a Hollywood tow yard.
Investigators were initially called after reports of a foul odor. Court documents later described the remains as severely decomposed and dismembered, making early identification difficult.
Singer Pleads Not Guilty to Murder Charge
Prosecutors have charged Burke with first-degree murder, including special circumstances that could carry a sentence of life without parole.
However, his defense team strongly denied the allegations, stating he was not responsible for the teen’s death and that they plan to contest the charges in court.
Investigation Spanned Months
The case remained largely under investigation for months after the discovery. Authorities later identified Burke as a suspect, leading to his arrest and formal charges.
Officials have not publicly disclosed a motive, and further details are expected to emerge as the case progresses through the legal system.
Community and Family Still Seeking Answers
The victim’s family emphasized their grief while remembering Celeste’s life and personality. They continue to call for accountability as the legal process unfolds.
What Happens Next
The case is ongoing, with prosecutors and defense attorneys preparing for future court proceedings. If convicted, Burke could face life imprisonment under California law.
