Traffic slowed to a crawl at the Sepulveda Pass on Tuesday afternoon after a big rig blew a tire and careened across all northbound lanes into an embankment, according to video from the scene.
The truck struck a Cadillac during the incident, AIR7 footage showed.
Video captured shortly after 3 p.m. revealed a lengthy backup on the freeway near Mulholland Drive, where crews had blocked a couple of northbound lanes.
Although authorities never issued a SigAlert and lane closures appeared limited to just two lanes, traffic remained heavily congested in the area.
By later in the afternoon, conditions had improved, though drivers typically expect slow traffic in that stretch during the evening commute.
