Arkansas Man Arrested in Child Exploitation Case; Explosives, 50 Firearms Seized

Authorities in Baxter County have arrested a 61-year-old man following an investigation into child exploitation offenses that also uncovered explosives, drugs, and a large cache of firearms.

According to Arkansas State Police, Michael Raymond Wamser Jr., of Gamaliel, was taken into custody after officers executed a search warrant at his home on April 27. The operation was carried out in coordination with the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said Wamser admitted to operating multiple online accounts used to download and view child sexual abuse material.

During the search, authorities also discovered a pipe bomb inside a closet near the home’s master bedroom. The device was located close to controlled substances, including psychedelic mushrooms and kratom, along with drug paraphernalia.

The Bentonville Police Department Bomb Squad safely removed the explosive and later carried out a controlled detonation.

In addition, officials seized approximately 50 firearms from the residence.

Wamser is currently being held on a $400,000 bond and faces numerous felony charges, including dozens of counts related to possession of child sexual abuse material, possession of an explosive device, and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.

He also faces charges for possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities have not released further details as the investigation remains ongoing.
