A suspect is dead following a police pursuit in Logan County that ended in an officer-involved shooting, according to Arkansas State Police.

Pursuit Begins in Booneville

Authorities say the incident started around 10:15 a.m. Monday when a Booneville police officer attempted to stop a pickup truck traveling along State Highway 23 in Booneville.

The driver failed to pull over, prompting a pursuit involving local officers and state troopers.

Chase Ends With Tactical Maneuver

Police said the pursuit came to an end after officers used a rolling block maneuver to stop the vehicle.

Suspect Armed, Officers Open Fire

According to investigators, the driver—identified as 45-year-old Gary Blaylock—exited the truck carrying a firearm.

An Arkansas State Police trooper and a Booneville police officer then fired their weapons, striking the suspect.

Suspect Pronounced Dead at Scene

Blaylock was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed that no officers or bystanders were injured during the incident.

Investigation Underway

Authorities say the case remains under investigation. Once completed, the findings will be submitted to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office to determine whether the use of deadly force complied with state law.
