Fatal Shooting Follows Minor Crash in St. Louis Neighborhood

A deadly road rage incident in St. Louis has resulted in murder charges after a man allegedly opened fire on a vehicle following a minor collision, killing a passenger.

Authorities say the shooting occurred Tuesday night on the 5100 block of Cote Brilliante Avenue.


Passenger Killed After Driver Attempts to Resolve Crash

According to investigators, a driver accidentally backed into another vehicle before stepping out to offer payment for the damage.

Moments later, a gunshot was fired. The driver then realized his passenger—a 55-year-old woman and relative—had been struck.

Police found the victim outside the vehicle with a gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital, where she later died.


Suspect Admits to Firing Shot, Claims Intent Was Intimidation

Police identified the suspect as Jamal A. Jones, 32. According to court documents, he admitted to firing the weapon but claimed he intended only to intimidate the driver.

Investigators said Jones acknowledged that the driver had offered to pay for the damage before the shooting occurred.


Multiple Serious Charges Filed, Suspect Held Without Bond

Prosecutors have charged Jones with:

  • First-degree murder
  • Unlawful use of a weapon resulting in death
  • First-degree assault
  • Three counts of armed criminal action

He is currently being held without bond as the case moves forward.
