Authorities have recaptured an inmate who escaped from custody in Polk County earlier this month, officials confirmed.
Arrest Following Traffic Stop
According to Scott Sawyer, the suspect, Levi Poor, was taken back into custody on March 28 after a traffic stop along Arkansas Highway 8.
Escape and Vehicle Theft
Poor had escaped from the Polk County Detention Center on March 22 around midday. After fleeing on foot, he allegedly stole a red 2011 Ford Ranger to aid in his escape.
The vehicle was later recovered in Le Flore County, indicating the suspect had crossed state lines.
Facing Charges in Two States
Authorities say Poor now faces multiple charges in both Arkansas and Oklahoma. In addition to existing charges of third-degree domestic battery and failure to appear, he is also wanted in Oklahoma on allegations of firearm possession by a convicted felon.
Investigation Continues
Officials have not released further details about the circumstances leading to his capture, but confirm that he remains in custody as legal proceedings move forward.
