A 23-year-old woman from Rolla died early Saturday morning following a single-vehicle crash in St. James, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 2:10 a.m. on County Road 1000, roughly a quarter-mile east of Highway B near Huffman Garden Center.
Authorities said the woman was driving a 2013 Cadillac SRX eastbound when the SUV veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a culvert. The vehicle briefly returned to the road, but the driver overcorrected, causing it to leave the roadway again.
The SUV then overturned, ejecting the driver, before crashing into a mailbox and a tree.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators confirmed she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
