Strong Storms Cause Major Power Outages Across Arkansas and Oklahoma

Sebastian, Crawford, and LeFlore counties were most affected by power outages as of 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday.

JOHNSON, Arkansas — Severe storms that swept through the region overnight left thousands of customers across Arkansas and Oklahoma without electricity.

The storms pushed through the area Tuesday night and continued into early Wednesday morning, bringing strong winds, heavy rainfall, and the possibility of tornadoes.

As of 9:41 a.m., nearly 1,000 customers remained without power, including:

Crawford County — 887 customers lost power, most of them served by OG&E and Arkansas Valley Electric
LeFlore County — 127 customers lost power, most of them served by OG&E and Public Service Company of Oklahoma
Sebastian County — 57 customers lost power, all of them served by OG&E
Washington County — 4 customers lost power, most of them served by Ozarks Electric

As of 9 a.m., crews restored power to all customers in LeFlore, Sebastian, and Washington counties. In Crawford County, however, 721 customers remain without electricity, all of them served by OG&E Energy Corp.

The Crawford County Department of Emergency Management urged residents to report any damage or outages on their Facebook page and to call their respective utility company.
