According to police reports, the incident began when a driver accidentally backed into the suspect’s vehicle on the 5100 block of Cote Brilliante Avenue in the Kingsway West neighborhood.

Investigators say the suspect, identified as Jamal Jones, exited his vehicle and fired a gun shortly after the collision.


Victim Shot Despite Attempt to Resolve Dispute

Officials said the driver attempted to defuse the situation by offering to pay for the damage. However, after the gunfire, he realized his passenger had been struck.

The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Police confirmed the victim and the driver were related.

Authorities took Jones into custody, where he reportedly admitted to firing the shot but claimed he did not intend to hit the woman.
