Officers with the Portsmouth Police Department responded to a reported shooting at the intersection of Wilcox Avenue and Elm Avenue at 7:32 p.m. Friday.
When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency responders transported the man to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities did not release any additional details.
