Northwoods Shooting Leaves Woman Dead; Investigation Ongoing in St. Louis County

A fatal shooting in Northwoods on Sunday evening has left a 35-year-old woman dead, prompting an ongoing investigation by authorities in St. Louis County.


What Happened in Northwoods?

According to police, officers responded around 5:30 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 6900 block of Pine Ridge Drive, near Interstate 70 and Lucas and Hunt Road.

When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from critical gunshot wounds. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died.


Victim Identified

Authorities identified the victim as Deara Banks, a 35-year-old resident of Hazelwood.

Her death has added to growing concerns about gun violence in parts of the St. Louis area.
