SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield police arrested two men accused of committing an armed robbery on East Kearney Street on Wednesday, September 11.

Online court records state that 20-year-old Dakota Mitchell from Clever and 18-year-old Marcus Hill from Springfield are both charged with first-degree robbery. Hill has also been charged with resisting arrest and armed criminal action.

According to the probable cause statement, the juvenile victim said Mitchell texted him about owing him $100. The victim met with Mitchell, who brought Hill and a third unidentified suspect, at the 1000 block of East Kearney Street at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The victim told police the three suspects got into his car with Hill trying to sell him a handgun but he refused. Hill then allegedly pointed the gun at his abdomen and the victim felt the two other suspects in the back of the car point a gun at him. Mitchell demanded he give $555 in cash to Hill and threatened to kill him if he called the police.

Officers were eventually dispatched to the incident and located the three suspects walking on N. East Ave., where they fled on foot.

Hill fled into a residence on 733 E. Dale St. but later exited after police surrounded the home. Officers located Mitchell near Commercial Street and Texas Avenue after a foot pursuit.

At Greene County Jail, Hill told an SPD detective that he went to the location of the incident to buy "M30" pills containing fentanyl and marijuana but denied being a part of a robbery. He then said there were several people he knew following him before and after arriving at the location and that they wanted the pill he bought.

The SPD detective also interviewed Mitchell, who admitted to being a part of the robbery. He said the victim messaged an associate through Instagram about buying a firearm, and that he, Hill, a third unidentified suspect and the associate planned to rob the victim at the location on Kearney Street. He said Hill and the other suspect pointed guns at the victim demanding money, taking around $500-$550 from the victim.

Both Hill and Mitchell are currently held in Greene County Jail without bond.
