SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Springfield's City Manager has announced his intention to step down from his role in January 2025.
Jason Gage has served as City Manager for six years. According to a press release from the city, Springfield went through the COVID-19 pandemic, a comprehensive planning process and also initiated some of the largest capital improvement projects in history during that time.
Gage said he feels now is the right time to move on, as the community will soon welcome a new mayor and could see several new faces on City Council.
"With a new Council may come shifted community priorities," Gage said in a press release. "Recognizing when it is time to embrace new challenges is often as crucial as celebrating past accomplishments, and I believe that time is now."
Mayor McClure and City Council are currently working on a process for determining an interim City Manager and for the recruitment of a permanent replacement.
