BAXTER COUNTY, Ark. — A parolee was arrested this morning after a deputy conducted a traffic stop for multiple alleged drug charges.
According to a press release from the Baxter County Sheriff's Office, 53-year-old Steven McCool, was arrested at 3:07 a.m. in the Norfolk area of Baxter CR 63.
The report said a deputy saw a Jeep without a visible license plate so they conducted a traffic stop. McCool was on parole from the Arkansas Division of Corrections and had a warrantless search waiver on file. The deputy noticed McCool throw something out of his window.
Upon a search of the vehicle and the discovery of the item thrown, the deputy found 16 grams of methamphetamine, suboxone, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
McCool was arrested and transported to the Baxter County Detention Center for the charges of:
- Possession of methamphetamine with purpose of delivery - Felony
- Possession of schedule II controlled substance with purpose of delivery - Felony
- Possession of drug paraphernalia (2 counts) - Felonies
- Tampering with physical evidence - Felony
- Possession of schedule VI controlled substance with purpose of delivery (Marijuana) - Misdemeanor
- Improper display of license plate - Misdemeanor
- Habitual offender - Penalty enhancement
- Parole violation - Felony
McCool has been held on a $25,000 bond for the new charges and without bond on the parole violation.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 9.
