Description
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--It's back on the road for the unbeaten Evangel Valor Saturday.
Evangel will go to Sterling, Kansas as the 16th-ranked team in the national NAIA poll.
The Valor is 2-0, the Warriors are 0-2.
Last week, Evangel beat Tabor College 33-17.
Kicker Jonah Edwards booted four field goals.
But for the second straight game, the Valor had to overcome a mistake filled first half.
Evangel junior running back Eric Williams scored two fourth quarter touchdowns to put the game away.
He says taking care of the ball and not making mistakes is a key point this week in practice.
"So the main thing we wanted to focus on as a team is finishing. We're getting so close, but luckily we have an amazing kicker. He went 100 percent. It was something we need. But at the end of the day, as an offense, we have to get better at finishing drives. From the outside looking in you could say it's frustrating. But as a team we always have each other's back. We always have 100 percent faith that we're going to win the game regardless. Mistakes happen. At the end of the day, the only one that was perfect was Jesus. We know we're not going to be perfect. Mistakes happen. It's up to us to make up for them. And persevere through it," said Williams.
