Missouri HR Manager Accused of Stealing Over $100K by Creating Fake Employees

A Missouri woman is facing serious theft charges after allegedly embezzling more than $100,000 from her employer within just three months of being hired.

Authorities say Jacqueline Gray, who worked as a human resources manager, orchestrated a payroll scheme involving fake employees to siphon money from the company.

Alleged Payroll Fraud Scheme

According to court documents, Gray was hired on July 22, 2025, by a business in Jefferson County. During her 90-day review, the company uncovered irregularities in payroll records.

Investigators allege that Gray created multiple fictitious employees and issued payments to them through the company’s payroll system.

Salary Manipulation Also Alleged

In addition to the fake employee scheme, Gray is accused of increasing her own salary shortly before payroll was processed, further inflating the total amount taken.

Over $105,000 Reportedly Taken

Between August 7 and October 17, 2025, authorities say Gray carried out more than a dozen fraudulent transactions, resulting in losses totaling approximately $105,260.

She has been formally charged with stealing more than $25,000, a felony offense under Missouri law.

Case Ongoing

Further details about the business involved have not been released. The case remains under investigation as legal proceedings move forward.
