Authorities in St. Louis are searching for a man accused of firing a gun at a police officer late Monday night, triggering a large-scale manhunt.
Incident Unfolds in Tower Grove South
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident began around 10 p.m. when a security officer alerted police about a man throwing rocks at vehicles along South Kingshighway in the Tower Grove South neighborhood.
When an officer approached the suspect near a local car wash, the man fled into a nearby area of dense brush toward railroad tracks.
Shot Fired at Officer
Police said the suspect fired a shot at the pursuing officer during the encounter. The officer was not injured and did not return fire.
Suspect Identified and Still at Large
Authorities have identified the suspect as 45-year-old Demetrius Ingram. He is described as approximately 6 feet tall, weighing between 170 and 180 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a red-and-black jacket with blue jeans and is believed to be carrying either a backpack or a rolling suitcase.
Ongoing Search Efforts
Multiple officers have been deployed across the area as part of an active search operation. Police emphasized the seriousness of the situation and urged the public to remain vigilant.
