Man arrested in Arkansas in connection with Rusk County murder accusation

RUSK COUNTY, Texas – Authorities arrested a man in Arkansas on Wednesday evening after accusing him of murdering a woman in Rusk County.

According to the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a welfare check request at a home off County Road 3122 and found a woman dead inside on Wednesday afternoon.

Following the welfare check, the sheriff’s office launched an investigation and identified a suspect who left the home shortly before authorities arrived, along with the vehicle they were driving, using surveillance footage. Shortly after, officials obtained the suspect’s phone number and tracked his cell phone, determining he was heading toward Arkansas.

After confirming the suspect was en route to Arkansas, the sheriff’s office contacted the US Marshals and the Arkansas State Police. Around 9 p.m., authorities located the suspect in Russellville, Ark., arrested him, and are currently charging him with murder.

At this time, the sheriff’s office has not released the suspect’s name and is waiting for extradition to Rusk County.
