A man from Claymont has been arrested after allegedly threatening two students with what appeared to be a firearm outside a local elementary school, according to authorities.
Incident Reported Outside School Grounds
The Delaware State Police said the incident occurred on the morning of April 1 near Claymont Elementary School.
Investigators allege that 31-year-old Anthony Dejesus was sitting in a vehicle on Green Street while waiting for another adult. During that time, he reportedly became involved in a verbal altercation with two students.
Students Report Threat Involving Suspected Gun
According to police, the students told officers that Dejesus pulled out what they believed to be a gun and threatened them. The children quickly ran back into the school and alerted staff members.
Authorities said the suspect left the area before officers arrived.
Suspect Turns Himself In
Later, Dejesus turned himself in at a local state police station. Officials noted that he is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior domestic violence conviction.
Multiple Felony Charges Filed
Dejesus is currently being held at Howard Young Correctional Institution on $41,000 bail.
He faces several serious charges, including:
- Possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony
- Carrying a concealed deadly weapon
- Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person
- Two counts of aggravated menacing
- Wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony
- Two counts of terroristic threatening
