Bridgeport Man Charged in Fatal I-95 Crash in Stamford, Police Say

A man from Bridgeport is facing criminal charges following a deadly crash on Interstate 95 in Stamford, according to state police.

Crash Occurred Near Exit 7

Authorities said the incident happened around 12:45 a.m. Sunday near Exit 7 on I-95.

Investigators reported that Jawora Davidson, who was driving a Honda Prelude, lost control of the vehicle. The car initially veered onto the right shoulder before crossing all travel lanes and slamming into a concrete median barrier.

Following the impact, the Honda came to rest in the center lane facing oncoming traffic. A Ford Transit traveling in that lane then crashed head-on into the vehicle.

The driver of the Ford was transported to Stamford Hospital with injuries.

A passenger inside Davidson’s vehicle, whose identity has not been released, was also taken to the hospital but later died from their injuries.

Driver Shows Signs of Impairment

Police said Davidson was not injured in the crash but displayed clear signs of impairment at the scene. Officers noted slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, poor coordination, disorientation, and the odor of alcohol.

Authorities added that he failed multiple field sobriety tests, and subsequent testing revealed his blood alcohol level was approximately twice the legal limit.

Charges Filed

Davidson has been charged with:

  • Operating under the influence (OUI)
  • Failure to maintain proper lane

Officials determined that Davidson was responsible for causing the crash. He appeared in court on Monday.
