A woman is recovering after being bitten by an alligator while swimming in a Florida river, according to authorities.
The attack happened Saturday at the Silver River in Marion County, just south of Gainesville, when the alligator bit the woman on the arm, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported.
Several bystanders helped pull her out of the water before she was transported to a hospital, the FWC said. Her current condition has not been released.

Wildlife trappers were dispatched to the area and successfully located and removed a 9-foot 8-inch alligator, according to the FWC.
The Silver River has since been reopened to visitors, county officials confirmed.
