BURLINGTON, CT — State police discovered the skeletal remains of three people inside a local house on Sunday.
Troopers responded to the house at 7 Stanwich Lane at 4:46 p.m.
A new homebuyer, who had purchased the structure “as is” at a foreclosure auction, discovered the remains, according to state police.
Officials transported the bodies to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Medical examiners had not yet determined the cause of death as of Tuesday, police said.
However, police said they do not suspect foul play.
“There is no indication of anything suspicious and no indication of any criminal aspect,” police said. “This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public at this time.”
Investigators are also still working to identify the three individuals.
According to the Assessor’s office, the property’s most recent owners were Paul and Sally Anne Cash, who bought it in 2019 for $535,000. State Judicial Branch records show that a mortgage foreclosure action had been initiated against them in August 2025, and court records indicate the couple failed to appear during the proceedings.
Detectives from the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad are investigating the case.
