A Mountain Home man with a long criminal record now faces several new charges after authorities arrested him in multiple incidents earlier this year.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, the latest incidents took place in early April.
On April 1, an officer stopped fifty-eight-year-old Phillip Wade Reeves on Spring Street after noticing a vehicle fail to signal. A records check showed that Reeves was driving with a suspended license.
During the stop, officers said they spotted a straw commonly used for ingesting narcotics and a flashlight device Reeves allegedly used to hide contraband. A search uncovered suspected methamphetamine, a straw with residue, a syringe, and a glass pipe with burnt residue. Authorities later weighed the suspected methamphetamine at just under five grams.
Reeves was arrested and later released after posting a $5,000 bond.
A second incident occurred on April 8, when officers stopped Reeves again near Spring Street and Forrest Drive, also for driving on a suspended license.
Authorities reported that a K-9 unit alerted to narcotics, prompting a search. During that search, Reeves allegedly produced a bag containing a white crystal-like substance and tried to place it in his mouth.
Officers said he ignored commands and resisted before they took him to the ground and placed him in handcuffs.
A follow-up search revealed a glass pipe containing suspected methamphetamine residue. Emergency medical personnel evaluated Reeves at the scene due to concerns he may have ingested a controlled substance, but he declined further treatment.
Reeves now faces additional charges from the April 8 incident, including tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia, both Class D felonies. He also faces misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, obstructing governmental operations, and driving on a suspended license. He was released after posting a $10,000 bond.
Earlier 2026 arrest
Authorities also arrested Reeves in February after taking him into custody on an outstanding warrant and transporting him to the Baxter County Detention Center.
According to the affidavit, Reeves denied having any contraband on him before entering the jail. However, a search during booking uncovered a glass pipe commonly used to ingest methamphetamine, which later tested positive for the drug.
He was charged with furnishing prohibited articles, a Class C felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Due to his prior felony convictions, he also faces a habitual offender enhancement. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond.
Prior history
Reeves has an extensive criminal history in Baxter County and surrounding areas.
He was previously arrested in connection with a theft-by-receiving case involving items stolen from a Mountain Home residence while the owner was out of the country. Investigators said a stolen cell phone led them to Reeves’ home, where a search uncovered jewelry, gold bars, and cash linked to the burglary.
Reeves told investigators that another individual had asked him to hold the items.
Court records show Reeves has eight prior felony convictions.
He is also a registered sex offender and has been arrested twice in Izard County for failing to comply with registration requirements. In those cases, he received suspended sentences.
Reeves is scheduled to appear for a jury trial in a separate case in May.
