Jury selection entered its second day in the murder trial of Joseph DeJesus, who is accused of fatally shooting a 29-year-old man in Bridgeport more than three years ago.
The victim, Dominique Jones, was killed near the Bridgeport Superior Court. His mother, Samantha Jones, is now speaking out as the case moves closer to trial.
“My son did not deserve to lose his life that way,” she said. “He was a good man, and he had his whole life ahead of him.”
Prosecutors allege that DeJesus is responsible for the killing, though details of the case are expected to be presented once the trial begins.
Samantha Jones described her son as being “in the wrong place at the wrong time” and is calling for justice as the legal process unfolds.
“We deserve justice, and we’re going to get it,” she said.
The trial is currently scheduled to begin on May 13.
