Jefferson City fire causes major damage to metal building

A single-story metal building sustained significant fire and smoke damage on Saturday.

The Jefferson City Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 2600 block of Southridge Drive at approximately 5:37 p.m., according to a post shared on the department’s Facebook page.

When crews arrived, they encountered heavy flames coming from the building and were able to bring the fire under control quickly, the post stated.

The building sustained extensive fire and smoke damage.

Officials are still investigating what caused the fire.
