FAULKNER COUNTY, Ark – The Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after three people were shot early Sunday morning at an event rental venue along Highway 65 North.
According to the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported shooting at 2:57 a.m. on March 15 at 404 Highway 65 North. The location, previously known as “The 70’s Store,” now reportedly operates as a rental event venue.
When deputies arrived, the Sheriff’s Office said they found two individuals outside the venue suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Authorities also learned that a third person had been shot and had already been taken to a local hospital by a private vehicle before deputies reached the scene.
Investigators with the Faulkner County Major Crime Unit then spent much of Sunday processing evidence and interviewing people connected to the shooting.
Neighbors who live nearby said the venue is frequently used as a gathering spot where people socialize, drink, and play loud music late into the night. While disturbances in the area are not unusual, Chris Roberts said he was surprised to hear gunfire.
“There’s been commotion in the past up there, people with loud music and last weekend there were people out there arguing outside,” Roberts, who lives across Highway 65 from the venue, said.
Roberts added that the shooting raises concerns for families living nearby.
“We got a grandkid here, there’s lot of kids down here on this road and with it being so close to home, it’s kind of scary that there’s shootings right across the street,” Roberts said.
He also noted that the loud activity at the venue has become more noticeable in recent weeks, including yelling and disturbances late into the night.
“I don’t know what you do,” Roberts said. “It’s a late-night place and you’ve got drinking and people out that late, anything’s liable to happen.”
At this time, authorities with the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office said they will not release the names or conditions of the victims. No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
