A deadly shooting in St. Louis County left one man dead and another seriously injured Monday afternoon, prompting a major police investigation and road closures in the area.
Shooting Shuts Down Major Roadway
Authorities temporarily closed a half-mile stretch of North Hanley Road in Bel-Ridge between Welsberg Drive and Carson Road as officers responded to the incident.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department, the shooting was first reported around 2:30 p.m. near the 2800 block of North Hanley Road, close to Chorman Avenue.
Victims Identified at Two Locations
Responding officers initially found one man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
A second victim was discovered shortly after in the 7700 block of Chorman Avenue. He was also hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, police said.
No Suspects in Custody
At this time, investigators have not identified any suspects, and no arrests have been made.
The Normandy Police Department requested assistance from county detectives, and the Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is now leading the investigation.
